Tour Itinerary

Day 1-2

Wave goodbye to the buzzing Las Vegas Strip as you make your way to Grand Canyon National Park. On the way, you’ll travel a section of the original Route 66 for a slice of retro Americana in the quirky town of Seligman - pick up some classic road trip memorabilia and one of the tastiest diner milkshakes in the States. Then it’s straight ahead for the mighty Grand Canyon! Once you've cast your eyes upon the deep, rocky landscape, you'll understand why this one’s on everyone’s bucket list. Pack your boots, camera and water before venturing into the canyon itself, along the Bright Angel Trail to Plateau Point. An optional helicopter ride will give you the ultimate bird's-eye view, swooping through the valleys and over the Colorado River far below. Watching the sun rise or set over the canyon with the colours changing is simply breath-taking and not to be missed. Your memories of the Grand Canyon will stay firmly imprinted on your mind forever.

Day 3

You've seen it on the big screen, now experience your own movie moments as you hit the trail into Monument Valley, home of those recognisable and legendary landscapes that have formed the backdrop to a whole host of Westerns. An included 4x4 tour with a Native Navajo guide will take you deep into the heart of the valley where you'll discover the sandstone formations and vast stretches of canyon lands that have long been the spiritual home of the Navajo Nation. You'll then spend an unforgettable night in a traditional Navajo hogan, hearing their stories and legends around a roaring campfire.

Day 4

Our Wild West cowboy camp is calling and your band of desperados will strike gold on a unique night in the sticks! Opt to mount a trusty steed and trot between the iconic Saguaro Cacti, with curved arms looming up to 6 metres high (20ft). Fresh from the saddle, tuck into an authentic dinner cooked on the open fire before a night under a million desert stars.

Day 5

You don't get much more Wild West than Tombstone, ‘the town too tough to die’. Unlike some towns that are recreated to look Western, the buildings in Tombstone are the originals and the locals are proud to preserve their heritage. The merchants run their stores in their Western wear, and actors playing the parts of famous locals stroll around Allen Street between shows. Saloons like Big Nose Kate's and Doc Holliday's have barmaids dressed as Western saloon girls that call out at passers-by. On the outskirts of town, the Boothill Cemetery is where people can visit the gravesites of those that died here. Don't miss the re-enactment of the O.K. Corral showdown and a chance to get dressed up in authentic Western clothing. This is the perfect opportunity to snap a Wild West selfie with your fellow cowboys and cowgirls!

Day 6

Located on the edge of the Chihuahuan Desert, where the sun’s always shining, Las Cruces is brimming with culture, galleries, interesting museums and delicious Tex-Mex food. Camp beneath the stars on high desert terrain.

Day 7-8

Sitting right on the Mexican border and named after the sharp twist in the Rio Grande, you're going to have a fantastic time in this truly memorable national park. The winter temperatures are a blessing and this is a great spot for hiking, so dust off your walking boots and hit one of the many desert trails where you'll see plants, lizards and fields of cacti, finishing with a blazing sunset. Save some energy for an included float trip on the Rio Grande, and take in the surrounding Chisos mountains laced in colourful layers of volcanic ash, from the water.

Day 9

Today you head east to historic San Antonio, which has a rich and colourful history and is the home of the Alamo, a symbol of Texan pride. The famous San Antonio River Walk is a subterranean complex of boutique shops, bars and restaurants that meanders for 4km through the wooded downtown area and is a fantastic place to while away the afternoon; take advantage of the tax-free shopping!

Day 10

Enter gator territory and see how many of the snappers you can spot on our optional Louisiana swamp tour. Slowly drift past ancient Indian burial mounds and fishing villages while taking in the unique scenery of the mysterious bayous of Cajun country (it’s a must do!). Then you’ll hop back over to the ‘Lone Star State’ for another night in mighty Texas, a state larger than some countries!

Day 11-12

Next up, a city which requires no introduction: New Orleans! This city is a favourite with loads of Trekkers, with its exciting nightlife and that special multicultural European and Creole flavour. Every music lover should make at least one pilgrimage to New Orleans in their lifetime. Explore the enchanting French Quarter, ride a steamboat on the Mississippi River, enjoy traditional jazz at Preservation Hall or sample a ‘Hurricane’ cocktail at Pat O'Brien's...the possibilities here are endless. For a really authentic Southern experience check out a ‘Voodoo and Graveyard’ tour or brush up on your cooking skills at the New Orleans School of Cooking and make yourself a big ole' bowl of gumbo! You'll stay right in the heart of the French Quarter so you're never far from all the toe-tapping action!

Day 13

Head out to the white sand beaches of Florida’s Emerald Coast. Located on the shoreline of the Gulf of Mexico, Destin is a top spot to indulge your inner beach bum. Treat yourself to some serious chill time - all you need to worry about is which swimmers to wear!

Day 14-15

There are plenty of options for a fun day out amongst Orlando's theme parks. Whether you choose Disney's Magic Kingdom or Universal Studios, Orlando is one big playground, bound to bring out the big kid you. And if novelty themed rides don’t appeal to you, head over to Kennedy Space Center. Learn about NASA and see where rockets are launched. Pretty epic right?

Day 16-17

Explore the crystal clear waters of Key West, with some awesome opportunities for snorkelling and diving, and all kinds of fun water-based activities. Treat yourself to some delicious Key Lime Pie or head down to South Beach, a popular beach with locals and tourists. Spend your final night at the famous Mallory Square and toast yourTrek buddies as you watch the sun go down.

Day 18

From one Florida gem to another, finish your tour in Miami and stroll the art deco seafront. If you're staying on in this sun-soaked city after the end of the tour, pose with the beautiful people in the hot nightspots and dance the night away as you celebrate a fantastic trip! This tour ends at approximately 17:00 hrs. We can book you post tour accommodation at our gateway hotel if required. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00 hrs.
