The perfect combo of action and idyllic island relaxation! Go wild in Tanzania's top national parks before heading over to the gorgeous island of Zanzibar for some sun, sea & sand!
Day 1: Nairobi
Welcome to Nairobi! We’ll be there to collect you at Nairobi Airport and transfer you to the Kenya Comfort Hotel in Nairobi. Tonight you will stay in shared dorms. There will be a pre departure meeting at 17.00. Overnight Nairobi.
Day 2: Arusha
Journeying south via Namanga, we cross the border and head into neighbouring Tanzania. Home to some of Africa’s finest game reserves, we camp at the attractive safari frontier town of Arusha. The town is perfectly placed for our visit to two of Tanzania’s best game reserves – the Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Overnight Arusha (L, D).
Days 3-5: Serengeti & Ngorongoro
Arusha is the starting point for the three-day excursion to Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti, which takes us via village of Karatu, where our campsite is located. The following morning we depart early and head into the wildlife rich Ngorongoro Crater. This World Heritage Site boasts some of the best game viewing in Africa – including the elusive Black Rhino. After our game drive in the Crater, we head to the Serengeti National Park. We cross the vast plains as we game drive through the southern and central areas in the park. Tonight we camp in the bushveld surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness. In the morning, we head off for another game drive and explore the landscape in search of the resident game. With some luck, we may see some of Africa’s ‘Big 5’! We return to Arusha on day 5. Overnight: Karatu (1) Serengeti (1) Arusha (1) | (Breakfast x 3, Lunch x 3, Dinner x 3).
Day 6: Arusha to Pangani
Today we head south and may catch a glimpse of Mt Kilimanjaro’s snowy summit. We pass through vast sisal plantations surrounded by The Usambara and Pare Mountain ranges, before reaching our lovely campsite nestled between these mountains, midway between Arusha and Dar es Salaam. Overnight Pangani (B, L, D).
Day 7: Dar es Salaam
Today we continue on to our lovely seaside campsite in Dar es Salaam where we prepare for our departure to Zanzibar the next morning. Overnight Dar es Salaam (B, L, D).
Days 8-10: Zanzibar
A ferry from Dar Es Salaam takes us to ‘Spice Island’, where we spend the next three nights. Zanzibar is steeped in history and offers a wealth of experiences. Wander the streets of Stone Town, take an excursion around a spice plantation or simply laze on one of the pristine white sandy beaches, the choice is yours! Overnight Zanzibar (B).
Day 11: Dar es Salaam
Leaving Zanzibar in the afternoon, we return to Dar es Salaam on the mainland. Arrival back to camp is usually in the late afternoon, or early evening. In Dar we exchange addresses and part ways, having just experienced a trip of a lifetime!
