Orang-utan Conservation

Volunteer with Orang-utans

Orang-utan conservation is important to keep the approximate 50,000 orangutans left in the wild able to breed and live amongst their native jungle homes. Orangtans are found in Asia, particularly Borneo and Sumatra, and are thought of as easy targets by hunters due to their large bodies. Orangutans share about 96% of human genes, making them incredibly intelligent and one of our closest relatives, however they are still in need of our help.

Threats to orangutans include deforestation, habitat loss, illegal trade and hunting. If you wish to support orangutan conservation then act as a volunteer and support conservation efforts in these areas of Southeast Asia. Volunteer with orangutans and you will contribute to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of injured and captured orangutans and in turn help to recreate a sustainable living environment for them. Volunteers are also needed to help with every day tasks such as cleaning enclosures, bathing the animals if they are unable to do so, prepare meals, etc…

If volunteering with orangutans sounds like something you would be interested in then why not check out our orangutan conservation product listings and contact someone that can help you with a placement.
