The Community Education team support community projects and schools to promote education and break the cycle of poverty within the communities of Udaipur.
You will teach alongside the local team at primary schools, creating a fun and interactive teaching environment. By reinforcing the syllabus and boosting their confidence, the project is working towards increasing the number of students progressing to high school. Volunteers design creative and fun games and lead arts and craft activities at community outreach projects and a disabled school which the children would not usually have the opportunity to take part in.
Living on the outskirts of Udaipur, you have the opportunity to explore the beautiful lakes, palaces and temples the city has to offer and to learn more about local culture and history.
What will I be doing?
Volunteers support primary schools in rural communities outside of Udaipur. You will work alongside the local team in the classroom, creating fun and interactive lessons for students aged 7-11 years. This inspires learning and boosts the children’s confidence whilst reinforcing the class syllabus. The local team have a range of lesson plans and resources which you can use to design each lesson, making them enjoyable and effective.
In the afternoons volunteers work together to play games and lead arts and crafts activities at community outreach projects and a disabled school. You can use your skills and experience to plan games, sports, dance, arts and crafts sessions or additional English and maths lessons. These volunteer-led activities are for children who are mainly 5 – 14 years old.
