About the project
Join a marine conservation project on a remote Thai island. Far from the crowds of backpackers and tourists, you will experience real Thailand, all whilst helping to conserve some of its threatened marine life. The main emphasis on the project is on turtles, however the project also focuses on protecting the coral reef and mangroves.
Your day will start with a long walk up a stunning white sand beach, looking to see if any turtles have come to the beach overnight to lay their eggs. If they have, volunteers help to protect the nests and collect data about the turtle activity. A long breakfast is then enjoyed overlooking the sea, monitoring turtle activity out at sea.
The afternoon may be spent helping with general maintenance of the education centre, getting involved in the local community, helping with mangrove work or coral reef protection.
Accommodation is very basic, living in beach huts next to the sea. The local community provides lovely home cooked meals.
Our staff will get you fully prepared beforehand and will be able to advise and help throughout. Once in Thailand you will be well looked after by the project staff, who will meet you at the airport and get you settled in.
