Living with Lions

Living with Lions
From £500
Duration 7 - 84 Days
From £500
Duration 7 - 84 Days
Work alongside some of the most beautiful animals in South Africa, including the lions, and get to experience an animal sanctuary in a hands on approach.
Experience the South African wildlife as part of our Living with Lions programme. This programme means you can take part in providing vital support and assistance to sick, injured and orphaned animals. The animals are brought to the project by local authorities and wildlife protection groups.
At the animal sanctuary you’ll help endangered animals, such as:
– lions
– white lions
– cheetahs and leopards
as well as having the chance to work with:
– elephants
– zebras
– ostriches
– and many other incredible animals.
All volunteers need to be ready to get stuck in, because you’ll be assisting our professional Game Rangers in the day-to-day tasks involved in the smooth running of the sanctuary and wildlife conservation centre. As part of these tasks, you can expect to take part in feeding the animals and also in preparing their habitats. Observe, help out and learn a lot about wild cats and their protection.
On Thursdays, we organise a break from your hands on volunteering work. You can rest or attend some of our exciting optional excursions. Take part in exciting excursions such as a ride on the Hartbeespoort mountain cable car – which will allow you to see some breathtaking views over the Magaliesberg, Hartbeespoort Dam and the surrounding area.  The optional excursions can be booked at the project if you wish to add them to your programme.
We receive volunteers from all around the world, so as well as a once in a lifetime experience working with Africa’s top predators; you will also get to meet new people and form lifelong friendships.
