About the project
Each year, thousands of kilograms of fishing gear and plastic are dumped in our oceans. This project incorporates a love of diving with a love of the environment. Each day, volunteers will take part in one dive to help remove debris from the seabed – whether that be fishing gear, tyres or even a fridge, each day will present some interesting finds.
Volunteers help to load the boat ready to head out for the dive. You will dive as a group and scour the seabed and reef for any debris, which is then collected. Volunteers help to weigh and analyse the debris – to date, over 2000kgs has been removed from the sea. The health of the reef and sea life has improved dramatically since this project started.
Accommodation and food
Volunteers live in an eco-house just 20 minutes from the centre of Lisbon. Three delicious meals per day are provided.
Our staff will get you fully prepared beforehand and will be able to advise and help throughout. Once in Portugal you will be well looked after by the project staff, who will meet you at the airport and get you settled in.
