The Summer Volunteer Program will offer you with all the best things that the country has to offer – from its culture, history, cuisine, shopping, religion, adventure and a lot more!
You will embark on your volunteering journey in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. You would experience the joy of giving by working with children, teaching English to the children or taking care of the mentally disabled children. While volunteer work will be the major activity of your week, during your weekend you will get to explore the popular tourist attractions in and around Kathmandu.
You will be visiting Bhaktapur which offers all kinds of interesting experiences; Patan, one of the royal cities; and Nagarkot, which has unrestricted mountain views. You’ll also get to take a tour of Chitwan National Park, that was awarded the status of UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. This park is home to more than 700 species of wildlife and innumerable flora varieties.
Get gorgeous views of the snow-capped Himalayas from anywhere in the country, and feel the chills during the upcoming summer break! A favorite destination for the students and gap year travelers, this Summer Program in Nepal is meant for all those adventurous souls looking to make a difference through some meaningful contribution.
Day 1 – Arrival in Kathmandu
You will be picked up from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and transferred to your accommodation. You can take some rest on the day of arrival. You can also venture out to the nearby local area and get familiar with it.
Day 2 – Orientation
Today your coordinators will be discussing with you your program itinerary for the days to come and give you the essential information.
Day 3 to day 7 – Volunteering in Kathmandu
Volunteer work begins. During this time you will be working with children, Teaching Project or with mentally – physically disabled children. You can render invaluable help by doing volunteer work with children in Nepal by giving them love and affection, teaching them basic conversational English, helping them in their school subjects, guiding them about personal hygiene and sanitation, taking them out on small excursions etc.
Day 8 – Kathmandu City Tour
Today we will take you for a city tour of Kathmandu. We will cover Durbar Square, Temple of Kumari (Living Goddess) and Pashupatinath Temple.
Day 9 – Free Day in Kathmandu
This day is free for leisure activities or optional tours or for shopping. You can visit other places of tourist interest or visit Thamel area for spending a good time in a pub or restaurant and for shopping.
Day 10 to Day 14 – Volunteer work in Kathmandu
You will continue volunteering work and make a difference in the lives of the little ones.
Day 15 – Trip to Bhaktapur and Nagarkot
At around 10 am, we will take volunteers to Bhaktapur, one of the ancient Kingdoms in Nepal. In Bhaktapur, You can see amazing pagodas and other monuments. After sightseeing in Bhaktapur, you can have lunch at a local restaurant (at own cost). Later we will proceed to Nagarkot to witness the gorgeous sunset.
Day 16 – Visit Patan and Swayabhunath Temple
After breakfast, we will take you for a tour of Patan and Swayabhunath Temple. Patan is one of the ancient Kingdoms in Nepal. As you reach Patan, you would be taken aback by the contrast to Kathmandu. After lunch in Patan in a local restaurant (at own cost), we will proceed to Swayabhunath Temple.
Day 17 – Refreshing tour of Chitwan and Pokhara
Volunteers will leave for Chitwan by air-conditioned bus or van or car. Upon arrival at the Chitwan National Park, you would be transferred to the Lodge or accommodation booked for you. You can discuss with local staff for jungle activities and the facilities around.
Day 18 – Exploring Chitwan
On this day, enjoy a safari in Chitwan National Park and other activities like nature walk, bird watching etc. You can also enjoy various activities in and around your accommodation.
Day 19 – Chitwan-Pokhara
After breakfast at the hotel, volunteers will travel to Pokhara by air-conditioned bus or van or car. Upon arrival in Pokhara, check in at the booked accommodation. Relax for some time and then go for evening boat ride in Phewa Lake.
Day 20 – Sightseeing in Pokhara
Today, you will visit places of tourist attractions like Mahendra Cave, Seti River Gorge, Devi’s Fall, Peace Pagoda, and Bindhyabasini Temple.
Day 21 – Pokhara to Kathmandu
In the morning, volunteers will return to Kathmandu by bus or van or car. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, check in at the accommodation booked for you. Rest of time is free for taking rest or for shopping.
Day 22 – Departure from Kathmandu
It’s time to say goodbye to Nepal. Check out from the accommodation and proceed to the airport for your onward / return flight.
