An inspiring project
The world’s sea turtle populations are under serious threat. One way to stem the decline is to make sure that turtle eggs are protected from predators and poachers and to keep an eye on the newly hatched turtles as they make their precarious journey across the sand to the sea.
Your role
As a volunteer you will be an active member of the team, helping to protect nesting turtles and their eggs, and ensuring that the baby turtles make it safely to the sea. The role involves lots of gentle walking along the beach to monitor nesting sites and the hatching process. All in an idyllic location! It’s a very sociable experience, working alongside other volunteers, staff and local villagers. Help to collect data about mother turtles, release baby turtles to the sea and increase the numbers of turtles that live in this area.
Accommodation
You will be based with staff and other volunteers in basic but comfortable accommodation. In three of the locations the beach is literally on your doorstep!
Support
Our staff will get you fully prepared beforehand and will be able to advise and help throughout. Once in Costa Rica you’ll be met at the airport and well looked after by the local staff too.
