Sports coaching abroad can be a very worthwhile cause as millions of children all around the world share in this interest yet do not have the means to support regular training in the hopes of becoming a professional. Sport coaching volunteers are required to share their knowledge and skill with these young people and encourage them to cultivate their interest. Participating in these team and individual sports will teach the children valuable life skills such as team work, leadership and fair play. For volunteers with a specific interest, common sports available include football, cricket, athletics, rugby, basketball, baseball, hockey, netball, boxing, swimming, netball amongst others.
Sports coaching placements can vary significantly so it’s important you read up on each one. Some require volunteers to work a full Monday-Friday week whilst others may just be part-time and after school. Pupils can range from very young children, to teenagers to adults and project locations can also range from remote deserts to inner-city schools.
