Located in São Paulo, volunteer at a inspiring youth center which aims to create a safe haven for young people in the local area to meet friends and take part in fun activities. School days in Brazil are short and this mean that many children do not have the opportunity to learn extra curricular activities like sport and crafts. You can volunteer as a teacher, working with other teachers to help the children learn English or develop a skill. Previously, volunteers have taught English, crafts, dance – even how to make sushi!
Alternatively, you can join the athletics, rugby or football coaching program. As a volunteer, you could spend your days traveling to underprivileged schools to help coach sport. Although Brazil is famous for their sensational football team, many kids do not have access to sports at their school. For that reason, your contribution to this program is greatly appreciated by the youth of the area and gives them confidence, self-discipline and enthusiasm.
There has never been a more exciting time to visit this amazing country. With beaches, music, sport and iconic sites, there will be plenty to keep you busy in your free time.
Where will I be living?
You will be living in convenient, on-site shared accommodation. You will have access to a western style bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and shared communal spaces. Lunch is provided at the center and a generous food allowance is given for breakfast and dinner.
Can I learn Portuguese?
It is important to learn new languages and it really helps volunteers to integrate into the project. It is for that reason that we offer to add 1-1 Portuguese lessons to your experience. You do not need to have any Portuguese to join the project.
