Ni Hao and Welcome to China. Help to support the children in this rural kindergarten. You’ll assist the kindergarten teachers in teaching the children basic English words and phrases through fun activities like songs and games. You may also be asked to provide assistance to the Care Centre Manager to look after the children.
Your programme will start with a cultural immersion week where you’ll meet the local people, taste the local cuisine and get familiar with Chinese customs. Your mornings will be spent learning how to speak Chinese and understanding cultural customs before adventuring into the local towns and cities. You’ll have opportunities to visit a Confucius temple and a Guangong temple, local fairs, and some amazing natural scenery.
If you can only do one week, you’ll go straight into the Kindergarten and won’t take part in the Cultural Immersion week.
You’ll encourage children to learn and grow creatively by teaching them language and communication skills, and more. By slowly building their confidence in language and communication you will place the foundations for a lifelong love and curiosity of learning, which will help them in many ways in their future.
The Kindergarten offer care and education to children 4/5 years old from the poor villages in and around the area and they will be very excited to see you. You’ll quickly become an important part of the local community. The kindergarten is like any other throughout the world; the children prefer to play and have fun more than to be formally “taught” thus making it your responsibility to get them enthusiastic about coming to school and learning.
You’ll work for about 10 hours a week Monday to Friday giving the weekend free to explore. Your morning will be at the kindergarten from 9:30am to approx 11:30 am and your afternoon will be used to prepare your work for the coming days.
The time spent with the local community and children will prove to be a highly rewarding opportunity for you, knowing just how great your impact was.

Accommodation will be in shared bedrooms of 2-8 people. Rooms in the centre are equipped with fans, hot and cold water and Western style toilets. There is a washing machine for laundry and a bar with a variety of drinks, snacks and food in a unique Chinese atmosphere. The house runs as a ‘family’ so you’ll help to clean up after yourself and to play your part in keeping the accommodation neat and tidy!
Wi-Fi / Internet: Wi-fi facilities are available throughout the centre, so you are able to Skype and Facebook friends and family.
You will be provided with three meals a day during the week – breakfast, lunch and dinner whilst at the centre. Weekends will be two meals a day – breakfast and dinner. These will be Chinese dishes typical of the local area, comprising mainly rice, noodles and vegetables with a little meat.
